The University of Siena offers a diverse range of educational programs, including bachelor’s, master’s, and single-cycle master’s degrees, doctoral courses, master’s degrees, schools of specialization, professionalization programs, and summer schools. Additionally, the university provides opportunities for a broader audience through various Centers, such as the Santa Chiara Lab.
The educational offerings extend beyond traditional classroom settings, encompassing MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and initiatives aimed at engaging external audiences. These initiatives involve the dissemination of knowledge and outreach activities through participation in conferences, festivals, and public engagement initiatives.
Across 12 different departments at the University of Siena, there are 25 degree courses that offer more than 60 teaching courses focused on sustainable development. These courses are available in both Italian and English and are accessible to students from various disciplines, irrespective of their chosen field of study.
On the other hand, there are four master’s degree courses that are exclusively dedicated to sustainability in various fields:
- Ecotoxicology and Environmental Sustainability (DSFTA)
- Economics for the environment and sustainability (DEPS)
- Social sustainability and welfare management (DISPI)
- Sustainable industrial pharmaceutical biotechnology (DBCF)
Furthermore, the university provides a comprehensive teaching course titled “Sustainability,” which is designed to cater not only to the entire academic community but also to individuals outside the university who have a keen interest in the subject.
